Becoming a member of the WISDOM Research Network brings a range of benefits for a school, its children and young people, and its staff.
We need to be research driven. I want to know what is backed up by research and evidence, because… [skills and interventions have] got to be taught well so that these young people are convinced by it and they understand why they’re doing it…
Connecting to the Network
The WISDOM Research Network is creating a community where schools can share best practices and work together to support students. We connect schools in the network, allowing them to collaborate and share their experiences and ideas.
Resources and opportunities
Member schools receive half-termly newsletters, including information about WISDOM Research Network partnered research activities, member schools’ experiences, as well as current news on children and young peoples’ mental health and wellbeing. Non-members are also welcome to sign up to the newsletter to receive termly updates.
Member Schools have access to a Members Area of our website, where they can find research opportunities and curated, up-to-date, and evidence-informed resources from experienced professionals and professional bodies, offering information, research, data and strategies for topical mental health issues in schools.

Members schools also receive invites to networking/professional development opportunities, e.g. seminars/webinars on current topics in youth mental health.
Participating in Research
While participating in research is not necessary to be a member of the WISDOM Research Network, schools have the opportunity to get involved in cutting-edge mental health research. Research partners of the WISDOM Research Network conduct important and novel research that aims to address the mental health needs of children and young people in schools.

WISDOM schools are often recruited to participate in research activities. By participating in research, your school helps to improve the lives of young people and benefit school communities. Students and/or staff have the opportunity to learn about and participate in mental health research, giving them a close-up into how our understanding of mental health is developed.
Accreditation for your participation
We offer tiered accreditation to showcase a school’s active engagement with mental health research. Accredited schools may display their WISDOM Research Network Membership, e.g. on the school website, school letterhead/email signatures.
